Who pays us

bosphorus.cruises is an independent editorial site. It is paid for by commission from three booking platforms:

  • GetYourGuide, our main partner, through its partner program;
  • Headout, through its affiliate program;
  • Tiqets, through its affiliate program.

When you click one of our booking links and complete a booking on that platform, the platform pays us a commission. The price you pay is the same as if you had gone to the platform directly; we never add a fee, and we never see your payment details.

We are not paid by boat operators, ferry companies, piers, palaces, museums or public bodies, and we are not affiliated with any of them.

Every link that can earn us a commission is a booking link to one of the three platforms: product cards, "Our pick" panels, booking buttons, comparison tables and the live availability calendars. These links are marked as sponsored in the page code (rel="sponsored"), and booking buttons carry a short note that they are affiliate links.

Links to official sites, such as the municipality, Şehir Hatları, the National Palaces, the Ministry's museum pages or an operator's own website, are ordinary links. We earn nothing from them.

What the commission does not change

  • Recommendations. We recommend what fits the reader. When a 340 TL public ferry tour is the better choice than a $9 tour boat, or when the best way to the Asian side is a commuter ferry, we say so, although nobody pays us for that.
  • Rankings and scores. Lists, picks and the editorial scores on our operator reviews are our own judgement, based on facts we can check: the boat, the route, what is included, transparency, cancellation terms and reviews on the platforms. A higher commission does not move a product up.
  • Platform comparisons. When the same cruise is sold on GetYourGuide, Headout and Tiqets, we show the prices side by side and tell you which is cheaper that day, and we point out the cancellation terms, including listings that cannot be cancelled at all.
  • Downsides. Over-booking, "yachts" that are big tour boats, non-refundable combos, pick-up delays and weather cancellations are written up whether or not the product earns us anything.

Prices and availability

Prices on our pages are "from" prices read from the platforms and dated on each page. They change daily, and the platform's own page at the moment you book is the one that counts. The live calendars show availability straight from GetYourGuide and Tiqets. Fares paid at the pier are given in Turkish lira as the operator or the municipality publishes them.

Your booking is with the platform

When you book through our links, your contract is with the platform and the operator that runs the trip. They are responsible for the trip, the payment, changes, cancellations and refunds.
