Who is responsible
This notice covers the website bosphorus.cruises, an independent editorial guide to Bosphorus cruises and tours. For any question about your data, write to hello@bosphorus.cruises. We do not publish a phone number or postal address; email is the way to reach us.
What we collect
Server access logs. Like almost every website, our web server keeps standard access logs: the IP address of the request, the date and time, the page or file requested, the referring page and the browser's user-agent string. We use them only to keep the site running and secure, for example to find broken links or block abusive traffic. We do not combine them with other data, and we do not use them to build profiles of visitors.
Emails you send us. If you write to hello@bosphorus.cruises, we receive your email address and whatever you put in the message. We use it to answer you and, if you send a correction, to check and fix the page. We do not add you to any list.
That is all. The site has no user accounts, no comment forms, no newsletter and no analytics or tracking scripts of its own. Fonts are hosted on our own server, and the charts are drawn from OpenStreetMap data on our own pages, so no font or map service learns that you visited.
Booking calendars from GetYourGuide and Tiqets
Some pages show live availability calendars from GetYourGuide and Tiqets. These calendars are the only third-party code on the site. When they load, your browser connects to the platform's servers, and the platform may set its own cookies and receive information such as your IP address, under its own privacy policy.
By default the calendars load automatically as you scroll to them. You can change that in Calendar settings (the link at the bottom of every page): choose "Only on click" and the calendars stay switched off until you click one of them. Your choice is stored in your browser's localStorage under the key bc-cc; it never leaves your device. The cookie policy explains this in more detail.
When you click through to a partner
Booking links take you to GetYourGuide, Headout or Tiqets. From that moment you are on their website, and their privacy policies apply to everything you do there, including your booking and payment. The link may carry a partner code so the platform can credit us with a commission; it does not carry your name, email or any personal data from our site. See the affiliate disclosure.
Official links (for example to the municipality, Şehir Hatları or the National Palaces) are ordinary links to their sites, with their own policies.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent or trade personal data.
- We do not use advertising networks or social-media tracking pixels.
- We do not ask for or store payment details: all payments happen on the platforms.
- We do not knowingly collect data from children.
How long we keep data
Emails are kept as long as needed to answer and follow up, and deleted on request. Access logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to its use. In practice, the only personal data we can link to you is an email you sent us. Write to hello@bosphorus.cruises and we will answer. You can also contact the data protection authority in your country.
Changes to this notice
If the site starts handling data differently, we will update this page and its effective date. Questions are welcome on the contact page; more about the site is on the about page.
