Stambultour review: the 16-guest Bosphorus yacht from Karaköy

The Stambultour Bosphorus yacht is one of the few shared cruises that is genuinely small: at most 16 guests on a 20 m boat. You pay for the space, not for a guide, and the company itself is hard to pin down.

Verdict in one line: a well-reviewed, genuinely small sunset yacht that is worth its higher price if a quiet deck matters more to you than a live guide or a long route, but the company behind it publishes almost nothing about itself.

Who Stambultour is

Stambultour Travel Agency is the name attached to GetYourGuide's "Sunset or Day Small-Group Yacht Cruise with Snacks". Beyond that listing, there is little to check. The company's website, stambultour.com, showed a database error when we looked, and stambultour.com.tr is a bare server login page. We found no company website or licence number, and no published legal name or address.

That does not make the cruise bad; the reviews say otherwise. It does mean that GetYourGuide is your only real point of contact. Book through the platform, keep the voucher, and send questions through the booking.

The boat and the pier: Azapkapı, not Kabataş

The details below come from the listing and from a copy of the same listing on another booking site, which names no operator but carries identical titles and inclusions.

  • Boat: a 20 m yacht for at most 16 guests. Under Turkish rules a commercial yacht may carry up to 36 passengers, and most boats sold as "yachts" in Istanbul take 30–40. Sixteen is the smallest shared group we know of on the strait.
  • Meeting point: Üsküfçüler Sk., Azapkapı, Beyoğlu, on the Golden Horn shore just west of Karaköy, by the Atatürk Bridge. This is not the Kabataş yacht strip where most sunset boats board. Karaköy is served by the T1 tram.
  • Access: the listing says it is not suitable for people with limited mobility, heart problems or vertigo.

The route: how far it goes

The published route runs Karaköy → Dolmabahçe → Çırağan → Ortaköy → under the 15 July Martyrs Bridge → Bebek → across to Kuleli → Beylerbeyi → Maiden's Tower → Eminönü → into the Golden Horn. In other words, it turns between the first and second bridges, around Bebek, and comes back down the Asian shore.

You see the palaces of both shores, the Ortaköy Mosque under the first bridge, Bebek bay and the Maiden's Tower. You do not see Rumeli Hisarı or the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, which the longer two-hour loops reach. For the full list of sights in order, see landmarks seen from the water.

On board: snacks, the app and the evening

  • Food and drinks included: tea, coffee and water, homemade mini pizza, seasonal fruit and mixed nuts. There is no meal.
  • Extra: alcohol and tips.
  • Commentary: an audio-guide app in six languages. Bring headphones and a charged phone. One reviewer reported the app buffering; download what you can before you board.
  • Slots: a daytime cruise or a sunset cruise, both 2 hours. Sunset moves by about three hours between December (17:37 at the earliest) and late June (20:42), so check that your slot actually catches the sunset on your date.

Prices: GetYourGuide and the alternatives

Lowest adult price per person in US dollars, checked on October 17, 2026. Boat, departure time and what is included differ between listings: open each one before you pay.

The three prices above are not the same boat. They are the comparable shared yacht cruises with snacks on each platform:

  • GetYourGuide (Stambultour): 16 guests, app guide, Azapkapı.
  • Headout's yacht sightseeing cruise: cheaper, but it cannot be cancelled or rescheduled once booked.
  • Tiqets (Velena Travel's sunset yacht): a 2.5-hour cruise from Kabataş with a live English or Spanish guide; see our Bosphorus Tours review.

For the price, you are buying space. Bigger-group sunset yachts start from about $17–21 on GetYourGuide; Stambultour costs about twice that.

What travelers say

The listing's 4.9 rating comes from more than 4,000 reviews on GetYourGuide. On the copy of the listing elsewhere, rated 4.9 from 1,252 reviews, the recurring themes are:

  • an attentive crew that helps with photos and even with taxis afterwards;
  • generous snacks and fruit;
  • a boat that does not feel crowded;
  • blankets handed out on cold evenings.

The one complaint that stands out is the audio-guide app buffering. Read the most recent reviews before you book.

How to book and cancel

  1. Book on GetYourGuide. You can reserve now and pay later.
  2. Choose the day or sunset slot and check its time against the sunset for your date.
  3. Free cancellation runs up to 24 hours before the start.
  4. Check the meeting point on the voucher the day before: Azapkapı, not Kabataş.
  5. If the weather turns, the captain decides whether the boat sails; the platform rebooks or refunds under its terms.

Alternatives to Stambultour

  • Want a live guide and the second bridge? Golden City Tours runs a sunset cruise from Kabataş with a live English guide up to the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, with up to 40 guests.
  • Want the lowest price on a yacht-style boat? See İstanbul Efe Yat.
  • Want wine included? Only a few shared products include it; the sunset cruise guide lists them.
  • Want the boat to yourselves? For 8–12 people, a private yacht costs roughly the same per head as a premium shared one.

All reviewed companies are on the operators page.
