Dentur Avrasya Bosphorus tour review: the 75-minute ferry loop and Pereme Tours

Dentur Avrasya is a private Istanbul ferry company whose 75-minute Bosphorus tour is the best-value loop on the strait: 200 TL online, Turkish and English announcements, turning at the second bridge. It is not a hop-on hop-off service, and its Turkish-night cruise is harder to price.

Dentur Avrasya's Bosphorus tour (Boğaz Turu) is the cheapest commented loop of the strait and, for most visitors who just want to see the shores, the right boat: a non-stop 75 minutes to the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge and back, from three central piers, for 200 TL online. Its Turkish-night dinner cruise is a different, less transparent product.

Who Dentur Avrasya is

Dentur Avrasya is the trading name of Avrasya Deniz Taşımacılığı, a private ferry company founded in 2002 by 40 partners whose roots go back to Istanbul's boatmen's guild of 1930. It runs ordinary city ferries across the strait (Üsküdar–Beşiktaş, Üsküdar–Kabataş, Beşiktaş–Kadıköy, Kabataş–Kadıköy and the Princes' Islands among them) and a small fleet of tourism-licensed ships for tours.

Pereme Tours is not a separate company. The booking site pereme.com.tr is titled "Dentur | Pereme Tours" and sells the Bosphorus tour, a sunset cruise, a daytime cruise with snacks and the Turkish-night dinner. On GetYourGuide the supplier line reads "Pereme Tours by Dentur Avrasya", according to GetYourGuide.

Some guides describe a Dentur hop-on hop-off boat with stops at Emirgan, Küçüksu and Beylerbeyi for about 300 TL. Dentur's own site describes nothing of the kind: the tour is a non-stop loop at the prices above.

The boats and the piers

Dentur lists five tourism-licensed ships: Kaptan Nazmi Alev, Rıza Yusuf Girit, Aydın Sedat, Yeşilçay-1 and Ahmet Şişman. Which of them runs a given tour is not published. Seating is free and a buffet runs "seasonally".

  • Kabataş has two Dentur landings. The Bosphorus tour leaves from the Dentur Avrasya terminal, about 200 m north of the Şehir Hatları pier. A little further along is Dentur's wooden tour pier, signposted for "Türk Gecesi & Sunset & Boğaz Turu", which serves the dinner and sunset cruises. Kabataş is the end of the T1 tram and the F1 funicular from Taksim. See the Kabataş pier guide.
  • Beşiktaş: the Dentur pier is one of five operators' piers within about 200 m. No rail; it is about 1.4 km on foot from Kabataş. See Beşiktaş pier.
  • Üsküdar: the Dentur terminal on the Asian side; Üsküdar is on Marmaray and the M5 metro. See Üsküdar pier.

The route: what the loop covers

According to Dentur's FAQ, the boat goes up the European shore, past Dolmabahçe, Çırağan, Ortaköy Mosque and under the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, then Arnavutköy, Bebek Bay and Rumeli Hisarı. It turns at the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge and comes back along the Asian shore: Anadolu Hisarı, Küçüksu Pavilion, Kandilli, Vaniköy, the Kuleli military school, Çengelköy, Beylerbeyi Palace, Kuzguncuk and the Maiden's Tower.

That is the same reach as most 2-hour platform cruises, in 75 minutes and without stops. Sit on the left going north for the European palaces and on the right coming back. It does not go near the Black Sea; for that, see the full Bosphorus and Black Sea page.

Timetable and fares

Each of the three piers runs its own loop. Fares are 250 TL at the booth and 200 TL online; children up to 10 and group-leader guides ride free.

Dentur on GetYourGuide, Headout and the passes

The plain 75-minute loop is not sold on the platforms. What you find there:

  • GetYourGuide 764101, "Bosphorus Sunset & Day Time Cruise, Drinks & Snack", from about $8, rated 4.7 from about 4,600 reviews, 2–3 hours. GetYourGuide's supplier line names Pereme Tours by Dentur Avrasya. It adds drinks and snacks, so it is not the same product as the booth ticket.
  • GetYourGuide 419108, "Bosphorus Dinner Cruise & Turkish Night Show", from about $23, rated 4.6 from about 2,300 reviews, with options for a window-side or front-of-stage table.
  • The Istanbul Tourist Pass includes one round trip on the Dentur boat from Kabataş; you collect the ticket at the online-ticket window with your pass ID.
  • Headout's ticket-plus-cruise combos (Dolmabahçe, Basilica Cistern, Topkapı or Hagia Sophia with a cruise) mostly board at a "DENTUR Istanbul Welcome Card Kabataş Pier": resold seats on this loop. Several of them cannot be cancelled.

The Turkish-night dinner cruise

Dentur runs a Türk Gecesi (Turkish night) dinner cruise from its wooden tour pier at Kabataş, departing from Kabataş according to Pereme's own pages. Its site shows only a photo gallery, with no times, prices or menu in text; prices are on its booking site. A reseller lists the evening at about 3 hours with folk dances, belly dance and a DJ, and options without alcohol, with alcohol, and with alcohol and hotel pick-up. Pereme allows free cancellation up to 24 hours before and asks guests to arrive 20 minutes early.

The same Kabataş landing is the published boarding point of dinner listings from several other sellers: two Velena Travel dinners on Tiqets, a Tourmania all-inclusive dinner, and, according to listing copy on a reseller site, Istambul Travel's dinner show on GetYourGuide. Prices run from about $23 to $79 for what may be the same evening. Several agencies sell seats on the same few boats, so the pier and the inclusions matter more than the title. Compare them all on our dinner cruise page and read the Istambul Travel review.

What to check before you go

We have no traveler-review themes for the booth ticket. A booker should check:

  • Which pier. The Kabataş terminal (Bosphorus tour) and the wooden tour pier (dinner, sunset) are different landings a short walk apart.
  • The weather. The lodos, a strong south-westerly wind that peaks in December, cancels exposed lines on bad days. Buy online on the day if the forecast is doubtful, or at the booth.
  • Food. The buffet is seasonal. Eat before or after.

How to book and cancel

  • At the booth: 250 TL, card or cash, no reservation needed.
  • Online at pereme.com.tr: 200 TL, digital ticket on your phone, free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
  • On GetYourGuide: most listings allow free cancellation up to 24 hours before, with reserve now, pay later.
  • Headout combos: check each listing; several Kabataş combos cannot be cancelled or rescheduled.

Alternatives

  • Turyol from Eminönü: a roughly hourly 90-minute loop to the second bridge for about 300 TL at the booth. See the Turyol review.
  • Şehir Hatları, the municipal ferry company: the Short Tour (340 TL for foreign visitors) and the 6-hour Long Tour to Anadolu Kavağı (640 TL). See the Şehir Hatları review.
  • Platform sightseeing boats from about $6–12 with app audio guides: compared in our sightseeing cruise guide.
  • Every public option side by side: public ferry guide.
