Le Vapeur Magique is a long-running dining boat from Karaköy that sells breakfast and dinner on the water. Our verdict: book it only if a Karaköy breakfast cruise is exactly what you want and you can live without reviews. For a known quantity, the better-reviewed morning yachts are safer.

Who Le Vapeur Magique is
The company describes itself, in Turkish, as a dining-boat tour on the Bosphorus "serving you since 1976". Its own site is a booking app rather than a brochure. It names Karaköy pier as the departure point and asks guests to be there 30 minutes before sailing. It counts children as passengers (free infants are not counted), and it lets you choose a zone of the deck when you book. Guest comments on the site mention breakfast tours, dinner tours, five-o'clock tea tours, birthdays and team events.
What the site does not say in its text: the kind of vessel, how many guests it carries, the menu or the prices. The name ("the magic steamer" in French) suggests a classic steam ferry, but the company does not say whether it is one. The legal company name is not published either. We have no reason to doubt the business. We just can't tell you more than it tells its customers.
The same booking software also serves two other Bosphorus brands: Port Bosphorus, a breakfast cruise from the Galataport pier, and The Gracee İstanbul, a fine-dining boat. Shared booking software does not prove shared ownership, and neither brand states a link. The same goes for Galataport's own 70-minute "Port LVM" sightseeing boat (700 TL, every 30 minutes from 13:30 to 20:30, music but no commentary, one ice cream): the initials match, but the connection is not stated anywhere.
The boat and the pier
Le Vapeur Magique boards at Karaköy pier, on the Karaköy waterfront. Karaköy has a T1 tram stop and the historic Tünel funicular up to Beyoğlu. The waterfront there has several separate boarding points: the Şehir Hatları ferry pier, Turyol's pier on the Golden Horn side, and the Maiden's Tower boats in front of Ziraat Bankası. The exact berth is in your confirmation, and the Karaköy pier guide shows the layout.
Arrive 30 minutes early, as the company asks. The Headout listing advises smart-casual dress.
Breakfast cruises have one practical advantage: morning light falls on the European-shore palaces (Dolmabahçe, Çırağan), which face the water. From late November to early February, though, the sun rises after 08:00 in Istanbul, so an early winter departure starts in low, flat light. The route is not published; ask when you book how far up the strait the boat goes.
Prices and where to book
Le Vapeur Magique sells through its own booking app and on Headout, which lists a breakfast cruise from $45. The Istanbul Tourist Pass also lists a Le Vapeur Magique breakfast cruise among its attractions. There is no GetYourGuide or Tiqets listing under its name, so no price comparison is possible.
For context, GetYourGuide's best-reviewed morning product is a 2-hour yacht cruise with a Turkish breakfast at about $73 (4.9 from 68 reviews). Another GetYourGuide "morning cruise with breakfast" starts at $314, which is a private-boat price level, not a shared seat.

What travelers say
There is not much to go on yet. The Headout breakfast listing has no reviews, and the comments on the company's own booking site are not independently verified. Before booking, check three things in the listing or by message: what the breakfast includes (a set plate or a buffet, and whether tea is unlimited), how long the cruise lasts and how far north it goes, and whether your table is indoors or on deck. If the answers are vague, use the 24-hour cancellation window.
How to book and cancel
- On Headout: the breakfast cruise has free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure, and book now, pay later is available on refundable listings. Headout emails the voucher instantly; carry a photo ID as well.
- Direct: through the booking app on levapeurmagique.com. Cancellation terms are shown at checkout; read them before you pay.
- Weather: the captain decides whether the boat sails. If it doesn't, the platform rebooks or refunds under its own terms.
Alternatives to Le Vapeur Magique
- Breakfast on the water with reviews: the 4.9-rated morning yacht with Turkish breakfast on GetYourGuide. All the options are compared on the morning and brunch cruise page.
- Dinner from Karaköy: Turyol's Bosfor sails at 20:30 from the Golden Horn side of Karaköy (601 passengers; direct tickets are non-refundable). Orient Bosphorus also leaves from Karaköy, at €50–120 depending on the menu. Both are covered in the dinner cruise guide.
- Just the view, cheaply: the Galataport boat next door (700 TL, about 70 minutes) or a public ferry; see the sightseeing cruise guide.
